Authors notes & Warnings: Alternative Universe, Mpreg. Un-Beta’d. Brian's POV “I’m concerned with one of your test results. The AFP, Alpha-Fetoprotein, test came back abnormally high. This could mean a number of things. Something as simple as being further along then we originally thought or it is possible that the baby has a neural tube defect such as Spina Bifida or Anencephaly. Because of this I’ve asked my secretary to reschedule your ultrasound at the hospital. They have a higher resolution ultrasound so they will be able to get a sharper, less grainy image then we would here.” What a way to start a doctor’s appointment, huh? We left not long after that for the hospital so we could have the ultra sound. I’m terrified of what’s wrong with our baby. It’s not possible for me to be further along. Dom and I both know the moment I got pregnant, almost to the minute. We’ve been waiting for almost an hour now, and if they don’t hurry up I’m going to sic Dom on them. Finally after waiting almost an hour and a half we’re in here. The gel is as cold and slimy as I remember. The tech running the machine keeps frowning at the picture, I’m clutching Dom’s hand so hard he has to be in pain, silent tears running down my face. “Can you move to your left side please, Mr. Toretto?” the Tech asks. I move to my left side and clutch Dom’s hand to my chest, Dom’s stroking my hair with his free hand and whispering in my ear; telling me it’s going to be fine, that we can deal with anything together. I know he’s trying to be positive, help me through this but I just want to scream, to rewind the day and miss my doctor’s appointment, I want to be blissfully ignorant about it all. The tech looks up and gives us a big smile. “There’s nothing wrong with your babies. Your AFP test is within normal range for twins.” Then he points out two little round heads and five little fingers. “The way they were laying I couldn’t see the second one enough to identify it as a baby; I thought it was a tumor at first. But that is definitely a second baby. Congratulations. If you want to switch to your right side I should be able to tell you the sex.” Twins, we’re having twins and their ok. Their *OK*! I move to my right side and can’t help but grin at Dom as he wipes the rest of my tears from my face. “Twins” I tell him and he smiles at me. “I Heard” he whispers back to me, his look is tender and full of love. He gives me a soft kiss, then looks up as the tech tells me I can lie on my back again. He points to the monitor at what look to be two little penes and says “their both boys”. ![]() Chapter Six |
